She is the second female White House Press Secretary who served during the Clinton Administration, after Dee Myers. Besides that, she is also an American political commentator and author and has her podcast, “Perino & Stirewalt: I’ll Tell You What.”

Dana Perino, widely known as the former secretary of the White House Press, was born on May 9, 1972, in Evanston, Wyoming, in the United States of America. However, she was brought up in Denver, Colorado, where she attended Ponderosa High School.
She was a bright student and deeply interested in public speaking during her school days.
Her father, Leo Perino, and mother, Janice Perino, can be linked to Italian and English ancestries. However, we know that two of her paternal great-grandparents were Italian immigrants.
Education & Degrees
After completing her schooling at the Ponderosa High School, she went to the Colorado State University-Pueblo to pursue higher studies in mass communications. She earned a bachelor’s degree in the same.
Additionally, she has a minor’s degree in both science and Spanish. Apart from mainstream academics, she was also a part of the university’s forensics team and worked at KTSC-TV, the campus-based Rocky Mountain PBS affiliate.

After working for the WCIA, she started working for Congressman Scott McInnis (R-CO) in Washington, D.C., where she served as a staff assistant. Following this job, she served four precious years as the press secretary for Rep.
However, in 1998, Dana Perino moved to Great Britain along with her husband, Peter McMahon, just after Schaefer announced his retirement. Only after three years, Perino returned to Washington, D.C., and served two years as the spokesperson for the Department of Justice.
After working for the Department of Justice, she was appointed as the Associate director of communications, in 2002, for the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), where her role was to provide necessary advice on media and public relations, message development, and outreach.
Only two months after the September 11 attacks, Perino was hired by the White House chief of staff, Andy Card. At first, she was appointed as the Associate director of communications for the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) but was later promoted to Deputy Press Secretary in 2005.

In the same year, on August 31, 2007, Dana Perino was appointed by President George W. Bush as the replacement for Tony Show as he had to resign from the post due to health reasons. During that period, she also served as the assistant of the President. A year later, on December 14, 2009, for reasons still unknown, a TV journalist, Muntadhar al-Zaidi, threw two shoes at Bush during a Baghdad press conference in which Perino’s eye got injured by a microphone stand.

In 2009, in November, President Barack Obama nominated her to serve on the Broadcasting Board of Governors, an agency overseeing government-sponsored international broadcasting. The Senate accepted the nomination on June 30, 2010.

Dana Perino met the love of her life, Peter McMahon, in 1997 on a flight journey when they were traveling from Denver to Chicago. During that journey only, they interacted for the first time and were attracted to each other.
