Early Life and Family
Judd Nelson was born on 28 November 1959, to a Jewish family in Portland, Maine, the United States of America. He was raised there by his father, Leonard Nelson, who was a corporate lawyer at that time, and his mother, Merle Nelson, a court mediator and former member of the Maine House of Representatives.
Moreover, his father was also the first Jewish president of the Portland Symphony Orchestra. He grew up in Portland along with his two sisters, Eve and Julie.
Education
At first, Judd went to the St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire. Later, he pursued higher education and went on to the Waynflete School in Portland, Maine. After completing schooling, he studied at Haverford College in Pennsylvania.
But after two years, he left the college and moved to Manhattan, New York, and pursued his passion for acting with Stella Adler. If we look closely, then we can say that changing his stream and choosing acting over further studies has helped him achieve greater heights of success.

After completing graduation, Judd Nelson started acting in the mid-1980s. He debuted in the film “Making the Grade” as the street-smart Eddie Keaton. The following year, he starred in “The Breakfast Club”, which paved the way for his acting career and indeed made him a star overnight.
This film in which Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, and Anthony Michael Hall also acted is about five teenagers serving in-school detention on a weekend.
Later, he worked with Estevez and Sheedy for the post-college drama St. Elmo’s Fire. However, this time, his role was a bit different which focused on a political aide who trades in his beliefs for a higher salary.
