Early Life/Biography
Nicholas was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on December 31, 1965. His ancestors were from Czech, Irish, English, and German families.
Patrick Sparks, the father, was a professor at a university, and Jill Thoene, the mother, was an optometrist’s assistant. Sparks went to Church on a consistent schedule.
His family had to relocate quickly due to his father’s job; Nicholas lived in Los Angeles and Grand Island. The young man graduated from high school in 1984 and joined Notre Dame University.
Nicholas had been involved in track and field since he was a youngster, which allowed him to earn a scholarship and join the university team.

Sparks grew up with his two siblings, Michael Earl Sparks, his older brother, and Danielle, his younger sister, who died of a brain tumor at the age of 33.
Although Sparks was in his twenties, his mother died in a horseback riding accident. When he was in his thirties, his father died in a vehicle accident.
Career
Nicholas Sparks began writing at the age of nineteen. He wrote his first novel, ‘The Passing,’ at Notre Dame in 1985, but it was never published. In 1989, he authored another unpublished book called “The Royal Murders.”
He tried to get his novels published after graduation but was turned down. Sparks subsequently spent three years dabbling in various sectors, involving real estate, dentistry product buying and sale, and so on.
He and Billy Mills co-wrote ‘Wokini: A Lakota Journey to Happiness and Self-Understanding’ in 1990. Random House, Feather Publishing, and Hay House released the book afterward.
In the first year after its publication, it sold roughly 50,000 copies.
He authored his novel ‘The Notebook’, eventually founded by literary agent Theresa Park.
The novel was initially published in 1996 and quickly became a New York Times bestseller. ‘Message in a Bottle,’ the American novelist’s second romantic work, was published shortly afterward.
In October 1999, he released ‘A Walk to Remember,’ a novel about two youngsters who fall in love despite their dissimilar personalities. This novel was eventually made into a film with the same title.
Sparks’ next book, ‘The Rescue,’ debuted at #2 on the New York Times Best Sellers list on October 8, 2000, and quickly rose to #1 the following week.
His books A Bend in the Road’ and ‘Nights in Rodanthe’ were released in 2001 and 2002.

‘The Last Song’ and ‘Safe Haven,’ two books by the American author, were published in 2009 and 2010.
In 2011, he released ‘The Best of Me.’ ‘The Longest Ride,’ his 17th romantic novel, was released in September 2013. On April 10, 2015, a cinematic version of the book was published.
‘See Me’ (October 2015), ‘Two by Two’ (October 2016), and ‘Every Breath’ are his most recent works (October 2018).
Relationship, Wife, Children
Nicholas met his future wife Cathy while on vacation in 1988. The following year, the pair married. Nicholas used the earnings from his first book to purchase a ring for his sweetheart.
This couple has five children: sons Miles, Ryan, and Landon, as well as girls Lexie and Savannah.
In North Carolina, the whole family resided in their own home. Cathy shared her husband’s religious beliefs, and the two co-founded New Bern’s The Epiphany School.
After nearly 30 years of marriage, the writer’s divorce was reported in January 2015.
