Early Life/Biography

Kathy Sabine was born on the 3rd of July in Truckee, California, the United States of America. The year of birth is not known precisely; however, various sources claim that she was born in the year 1966.

She was raised by her parents in that locality and attended elementary school there. At that time, her parents owned a local ski hill where Kathy learned skiing, hiking, and camping.

From this, we get to know that her childhood was quite adventurous. The lifestyle of experiencing nature to its fullest made her get interested in living in Colorado.

Kathy first attended her elementary school upon Donnelike pass, which was not up to the mark compared to other schools nowadays. The reason was that the school was two rooms for five grades.

Each grade was a row of desks, literally placing row one to grade one. Later, she joined a minor school to pursue her high school studies, which had only a hundred kids, according to Kathy.

After completing her schooling, she joined the California Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, California, and graduated as a veteran.

Kathy Sabine first tried to pursue her career in veterinary; however, she soon realized that she couldn’t finance her career in the field and then switched to journalism.

Her first job was at KSBY in San Luis Obispo, the NBC station, where she became friends with Sharon Graves, her boss’s wife. It was her idea that inspired her to get into television news channels. Following this, Kathy Sabine started her journalism career at the NBC affiliate in San Luis Obispo.

Later, she worked for ABC in Santa Barbara and San Jose, California. She has also been associated with the Fox Network, during which she got the chance to work with Bill O’Reilly, Martha MacCallum, and Bret Baier.

Sabine’s career progressed much more when she joined 9NEWS in 1993 as a co forecaster. However, later, she got promoted to work as the lead forecaster.

Working in this position, she broadcasts alongside Kevin Corke on the 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10 p.m. news every weekday, i.e. Monday to Friday. She is currently the chief meteorologist of 9NEWS. Apart from forecasting, she has a profound interest in news anchoring, reporting, producing, and writing.

She has also spent time behind the scenes and helped the firms as a chyron operator, audio technician, camera operator, floor director, and tape operator.
