Early Life and Family
Kathy Reichs was born in 1948 in Chicago, Illinois, the United States of America. During those years, her father worked as a meatpacking company manager and her mother was a homemaker who used to host her own book-club radio show.
Her family supported her to explore her interest in science. Kathy was so talented that she wrote her own book at the age of only nine.
Talking about her education, not much about her schooling is available on the internet. After completing her schooling, she went on to pursue her Bachelor of Arts degree from American University.
In 1971, she earned her degree with a major in anthropology. A year later, she completed her Master of Arts in physical anthropology from Northwestern University, and in 1975, she earned her Ph.D. degree in physical anthropology while raising her three children. Since graduating from Northwestern University, she has taught at a number of universities including Northern Illinois University, University of Pittsburgh, Concordia University, and McGill University. Other than that, she has also appeared in Tanzania to testify at the United Nations’ International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and assisted Clyde Snow and the Foundation for Guatemalan Forensic Anthropology in an exhumation in the area of Lake Atitlan in the highlands of southwest Guatemala and what not!
Previously, she used to be a member of the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team that was assigned to assist in the World Trade Center disaster.
