Biography/Early Life
Issac Mizrahi was born on 14 October 1961 (age 61 years as of 2022). He is currently 61 years old as of 2022. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, US.
His father was a children’s clothing manufacturer, and his mother was known for her fashion sense. Isaac’s mother was instrumental in exposing him to fashion early.
When he was ten, his father gave him a sewing machine. He learned to use a sewing machine and made cloth for the puppet and the people.
Because of his interest in fashion design from the very start and his determination to follow his father, he became a famous American fashion designer.
Education
He graduated from Yeshivah of Flatbush Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Arts and Performing Arts and the Parsons School of Design.
Career
Isaac Mizrahi’s interest in fashion design came naturally.
He would often accompany his mother on shopping trips. His mother also took Isaac to the ballet and movies. The young Mizrahi teamed up with a friend and distributed his outfits to local shops.
His strikingly colorful and offbeat designs helped his career take off so quickly.
He presented his first collection in 1987 at a trunk show. And to him, this show earned praise from fashion editors, promoting several top retailers to place orders. In 1989, he discussed his designs in an interview with Elizabeth Cannon.
But initially, he did not make a profit. He was forced to close his 1998 collection due to the losses.
Mizrahi returned to fashion in 2002. When he began designing another diffusion collection, it was an enormous hit and soon spread to cover accessories, bedding, housewares, and pet products. And he earned a good profit.
In 2010, Mizrahi launched a label called IsaacMirzahiLIVE! In 2011, he sold his brand to Xcel Brands, Inc.
He has achieved many awards, including the Perry Ellis Award (now called the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award) in 1998 and the Womenswear Designer of the Year Award in 1989.
