Tom William Selleck, also known as Tom Selleck was born on 29th January 1945. He was prominently known as an American actor, television and film producer, and screenwriter.
He is the receiver of five Emmy Award nominations. He appeared in Quigley Down Under, Mr. Baseball, and Lassiter.
Tom Selleck is also a California Army National Guard veteran and a spokesman for the National Rifle Association (NRA). He also is an endorser in advertisements for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.

Tom Selleck was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 29, 1945. Tom Selleck is a direct descendant of English colonist David Selleck. Selleck’s family moved to Sherman Oaks, California, in 1948.
Family
Tom Selleck was born to Martha Selleck (née Jagger) and Robert Dean Selleck. His mother was a housewife and his father was an executive and real estate investor.
Education
Tom Selleck went to Grant High School from where he graduated in 1962. He earned a basketball scholarship to attend the University of Southern California. He was studying business administration. He also started studying acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse under Milton Katselas.

Today, Tom is known to be one of television’s leading men. But it wasn’t like this before, as his acting career wasn’t something just given out to him back during his initial time in California. Before acting, he yearned to make it into a professional athlete.
He went to the University of Southern California to attend business studies. He was also in management training for United Airlines. During his senior year, he earned a basketball scholarship.
Luckily, the future star wasn’t ready to give up and switched to his backup plan. During his final year in school, in 1967, Selleck made his debut on TV. He was appearing for the first time on The Dating Game.
Although, he ultimately wasn’t able to win and lose. The television steak kept continuing with a few commercials advertising various products.
Left to Serve The Military
In 1967, the TV and commercial appearances ultimately secured him a spot in the 20th Century Fox New Talent Program. Where he just kept working out his acting skills.
But almost after two years of success. The actor had to hold on to his future career to serve on active duty in the California Army National Guard for nearly six months.
After returning home, he dropped out of the Fox classes. The actor and producer weren’t ready to give up despite the failure.

After starring in almost six different failed TV pilots, he finally got his breakthrough in his career, which ultimately defined the rest of his career—eventually landing the role of Thomas Magnum on Magnum P.I. in 1980.

Soon after, the pair ultimately split. Selleck was back on the headlines soon after for his new love interest. He met Jillie Joan Mack during the initial filming back in London.
The 38-year-old divorcé met the dancer in the musical Cats. Quickly the simple dinner date was something more for the couple. After her theatrical contract, Mack eventually moved to Hawaii.
