Early Life and Family

She was born in Richmond, Virginia, United States. Her father, Ed Taylor passed away in January. He has worked as a Navy Pilot and Progressive Lawyer, both of which are his proudest accomplishments.

Maru stated that he was a Pup Parent over the years to Torts, Penny, Candy Apple, Shorty, Sissy, Zoey, Venus, Jewel, and Phoebe. Mary Burton formerly resided in Richmond. She lived there for most of her life. She has a daughter named Julia and now, she is staying on the outer banks of Carolina.

She left a marketing career to publish her first book in 2000 and from then many of her books have been featured as New York Times and USA Today bestselling novels.

She is also a member of Sisters in Crime, Mystery Writers, International Thrillers Writers, and Romance Writers of America.

She has worked along the way from Harlequin to Kensington Publishing, Berkley, and Montlake Romance. She has recently published The Lies I Told, on the 8th of February 2022.

After a few years, she left her marketing career behind to write her first novel with the hope that eventually one of her stories would be published. In January 1999, she got a call from Harlequin Books offering to buy A Bride For MCCAIN.

This was later published in January 2000. In the later years, she published Senseless Duo, Texas Rangers Trilogy, Morgans of Nashville, Forgotten Files, Criminal Profiler, and Montana series. Her novels revolve around the Mystery, Romantic Suspense, Romance, Historical Romance, and General Fiction genres.

Mary Burton, whose latest novel is “The Lies I Told”, loves writing suspense and spends a lot of time researching and talking with respective experts.  She enjoys morning walks, baking, and tiny dachshunds.
