Early Life/Biography

Lester Holt, 4 June (DeRozario) and Lester Don Holt Srchildren entered the world on 8 March 1959, at Hamilton Air Force Base in Marin County, California.

Even though Lester Don Holt Jr. spent much of his youth in Sacramento, he was born on an Air Force post in Marin County on 8 March 1959. Holt is the middle sibling of three and is a multiracial man having roots in Jamaica, India, and Europe.

Education

Lester enrolled at Cordova High School, which is located in Rancho Cordova. He continued to finish his high school education and received his diploma in 1977.

While still in high school, he worked as a disc jockey for the KRAK radio station. In addition, he made sure that he could find time to practice reporting at KCRA Channel 3.

After graduating high school, he completed his undergraduate degree at California State University in Sacramento. A work opportunity prevented him from completing his bachelor’s degree, and he never returned to school.

KCBS gave the position in the San Francisco area. He decided to accept the job offer but did not finish his college degree.

Lester Holt’s Career

After relocating to the Big Apple, he began working as a journalist for WCBS TV. After that, he started working as a reporter and an anchor for the weekend news on KNXT in Los Angeles.

When he moved to WCBS TV in 1983 from KNXT, he was offered positions that were quite comparable to the ones he had had at KNXT.

In 1986, he began his career in television with WBBM-TV in Chicago. He was employed at the television station for a total of 14 years. You may often find him acting as your host for the nightly broadcast.

Lester joined the MSNBC team in 2000 after being offered a position there. His first three years were spent subbing for other anchors on Today and NBC Nightly News.

During that time, he gained invaluable experience. He currently serves as the presenter of Weekend Today permanently. It occurred as a direct result of the unexpected passing of David Bloom.

Since 2007, he has served as the anchor of the weekend edition of NBC’s Nightly News. Lester’s career path included working as a sports journalist at one point in his life. It was discussed at some point during the broadcast of the Summer Olympics in 2008.
