Kyle Larson started his career racing open-wheel cars, including United States Auto Club. He took part in Keith Kunz Motorsports and Hoffman Racing with Toyota backing.

Kyle also took part in World of Outlaws sprint cars. At Eldora Speedway, Kyle achieved the 2011 4-Crown Nationals. In the year 2012, kyle has won six USAC National Midget races.

He also gained his first ARCA win at Pocono Raceway from the pole in the same year. 

Kyle started his Camping World Truck Series at Kentucky Speedway, where he drove the No. 4 Chevrolet Silverado, though he finished this competition with the 10th position.
