Early Life/Biography
Deshaun Watson took birth on 4 September 1995 in Gainesville, Georgia. He was a Clemson Tigers football team member that won the national title in 2016. The Texans chose Watson in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Watson led the Texans to successive division victories in 2018 and 2019 and led the league in passing yards in 2020, following a solid debut season cut short by injury.

In each of his three seasons as Houston’s starting quarterback, he was named to the Pro Bowl. He has the highest career completion rate of any person in history (minimum 1,500 attempts).

Freshman Year
Watson played his freshman season as the backup to starter Cole Stoudt.
He completed 29 of 41 passes for 479 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He set a school record with six touchdown passes in his first start.
Sophomore Year
In 2015, Watson led Clemson to an undefeated 12–0 regular season and a #1 ranking in the polls. After the regular season, the Tigers qualified for the ACC Championship Game against #10 North Carolina.
Watson threw for 289 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 45–37 win.
Junior Year
Watson was named one of the five finalists for the 2016 Heisman Trophy but lost to Louisville’s Lamar Jackson.
He became the first player since Jason White in 2003–2004 to win Davey O’Brien Awards in consecutive years.
Watson led Clemson to the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship.
Career
The Houston Texans drafted quarterback Deshaun Watson in the first round (12th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft. The Texans had acquired the pick from the Cleveland Browns earlier that year.
Watson was the third quarterback taken in the draft behind Mitchell Trubisky and Patrick Mahomes.
2017 Season
On May 12, 2017, the Texans signed Watson to a four-year, $13.84 million contract featuring an $8.21 million signing bonus.
He made his first regular-season appearance on September 10, 2017, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

His five total scores tied the NFL rookie touchdown record. Deshaun Watson is the first rookie to pass for at least four touchdowns and rush for one touchdown in a game since Fran Tarkenton in 1961. He was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for October.
Watson threw 16 touchdowns in October, setting the NFL record for touchdown passes by a rookie in a calendar month.

Watson took a 12-hour bus ride from Houston to Jacksonville rather than fly because of fears about the effects of air pressure on his chest.

2019 Season
This season, Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Week twice. He threw for over 400 yards and five touchdowns against the Atlanta Falcons and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Watson was kicked in the eye by an opponent’s cleat but managed to throw a touchdown pass after being hit. Watson was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for December.
He helped lead the Houston Texans to a 10–6 record and an AFC South title. Watson finished the season with 3,852 passing yards, 26 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, along with 413 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns.

On April 28, 2020, the Houston Texans exercised the fifth-year option on Deshaun Watson’s contract.

On September 5, Watson signed a four-year, $177.5 million contract extension with $111 million guarantees. This marked the second-most lucrative contract in NFL history after Patrick Mahomes.
2021 Season
Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was named to the Texans’ 53-man roster for the 2019 season.
Watson requested a trade after becoming disgruntled with the front office and coaching staff changes. He was ruled out for every game in 2021 for “non-injury reasons/personal matter”.
